Terms of use
Lab Trace Terms of Use
These terms apply to the Lab Trace mobile and desktop applications published by Beginners Lab. By using Lab Trace, you agree to these terms and the Privacy Policy.
1. Intended use
Lab Trace is a general research-inventory and catalogue tool. It is not a medical device, clinical record system, safety-control system, regulated laboratory information system, legal record repository, or substitute for institutional validation and recordkeeping requirements. Do not store patient information, protected health information, or data whose use would require controls Lab Trace does not provide.
2. Your records and responsibilities
You retain responsibility for the records, photos, links, and files you enter or transfer. You must have permission to use that content and must comply with workplace policies, confidentiality duties, export controls, and applicable law. You are responsible for reviewing record accuracy and maintaining appropriate independent copies.
3. Backups and passwords
Portable .labtrace backups may contain readable research records and photos. Password protection is optional. Beginners Lab cannot recover a forgotten backup password or a lost, deleted, damaged, or overwritten file. Keep tested backups in secure locations and do not rely on Lab Trace as the only copy of important information.
4. Third-party services
Optional features use services provided by Google and Microsoft, including Google Play, Google Mobile Ads, and Microsoft OneDrive. Their availability, accounts, terms, and data handling are controlled by those providers. Beginners Lab is not responsible for third-party outages, account restrictions, storage limits, policy changes, or content removed by a provider.
5. Subscriptions
Lite and Plus subscriptions, where offered, are purchased and managed through Google Play. The price, billing period, trial or offer details, taxes, and renewal terms shown by Google Play before purchase control the transaction. Subscriptions may renew automatically until cancelled through Google Play. Cancellation normally stops a future renewal rather than refunding the current period. Refund eligibility is determined under Google Play rules and applicable law.
6. Acceptable use
You may not misuse Lab Trace, bypass paid access controls, interfere with services or other users, introduce malicious content, violate intellectual-property rights, or use the app for unlawful, harmful, deceptive, or unauthorized surveillance activity.
7. Availability and changes
Lab Trace may be changed, suspended, or discontinued. Features can vary by platform, device, subscription tier, and region. We aim to keep portable formats compatible but cannot promise perpetual support for every operating system, provider, or legacy file.
8. Disclaimers and liability
To the extent permitted by law, Lab Trace is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of uninterrupted operation, fitness for a particular regulated purpose, or error-free results. Beginners Lab is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost experiments, lost profits, or lost data resulting from use of the app, except where liability cannot legally be excluded. Nothing in these terms limits mandatory consumer rights.
9. Changes and contact
We may update these terms by posting a revised date and text here. If a material change requires additional notice or consent, we will provide it as required.
