Lab Trace Support
For assistance, email beginnersforbeginners@gmail.com. Include your platform, Lab Trace version, and a description of the issue. Never email a backup password, Microsoft token, purchase token, or confidential laboratory data.
Back up your catalogue
- Open Lab Trace and go to Settings → Backup and restore.
- Confirm or change the local backup folder.
- Choose a filename ending in
.labtrace. - Optionally enter a password of at least eight characters. Passwords cannot be recovered.
- Keep the completion confirmation and test important backups by reviewing them on a separate device or desktop.
Unencrypted backups can be read by anyone who obtains the file.
Restore safely
Choose Restore backup, select the .labtrace file, enter its password if required, and review the source, creation date, encryption state, and counts. Restore replaces the shared catalogue snapshot after an automatic safety backup. Do not interrupt the app or remove storage during restoration.
OneDrive
OneDrive is optional and requires a Plus subscription plus a user-owned Microsoft account. To disconnect it, open Settings, locate the OneDrive panel, and select Disconnect. Disconnecting removes the local token but does not delete files already synchronized. Delete remote files separately through OneDrive.
Subscriptions
Purchases, renewal, cancellation, and payment methods are managed by Google Play. Use Settings → Subscriptions → Restore purchase after reinstalling or changing devices. To manage or cancel, open Google Play → profile picture → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Lab Trace.
If access does not refresh, confirm the same Google account is active, update Google Play, reconnect to the internet, and try Restore purchase before contacting support.
Data deletion
Lab Trace has no Beginners Lab online account and normally sends no catalogue records to Beginners Lab servers.
- Delete records and photos using Lab Trace controls.
- On Android, clear all remaining local data through Settings → Apps → Lab Trace → Storage → Clear storage, or uninstall the app.
- Delete exported
.labtracefiles with the Files app or desktop file manager. - Disconnect OneDrive, then delete synchronized files through OneDrive.
- Manage Google advertising data in Android privacy settings and through Lab Trace's Privacy choices button where displayed.
- Manage Google Play purchase records and subscriptions through Google Play.
If you believe you sent personal information directly to support, email beginnersforbeginners@gmail.com with “Lab Trace privacy request” in the subject. We may ask for enough information to locate the correspondence, but do not send catalogue files or credentials.
Report a problem
Send the device model, Android or Windows version, Lab Trace version, the action you attempted, and the exact error message. Redact specimen names, experiment contents, shared-drive URLs, QR payloads, filenames, and other confidential details from screenshots.
Safety: Lab Trace is for general research inventory. Do not use it for patient records, clinical decisions, emergency response, or as the sole record required by a regulated quality system.
